I’m Still Here

Based on a concept by Valerie Buhagiar. Developed by Valerie Buhagiar, Leonie Forbes, Michael Miller, and Frances-Anne Solomon.

Conceived as a vehicle for great Jamaican actress Leonie Forbes, this is the story  of Evadne, an errant intransigent bad-mind old lady  – stubborn, outrageous and own-way – who discovers that she has terminal cancer. Stuck in a hospital in Toronto, she must come to terms with her present situation as well as some unfinished business from her past.

Her companions on this journey are her her sometimes drunken Nurse, Carol, a compassionate woman with a number of skeletons in her own closet, and Evadne’s fantatical youngest son Desmond, who despite everyone’s  best  efforts has never managed to forgive her for “abandoning” him for her career when he was a child.

It is a roller coaster ride that explores end of life issues, as well as personal demons, including rage, denial, forgiveness, and love through a straight up rollicking comedy
